Metro police are investigating a fatal shooting late Thursday night in east Nashville.
Shots were fired shortly before 11 p.m. outside a duplex in the 900 block of Thomas Avenue off Gallatin Pike and north of Trinity Lane.
Police said the victim, identified as 33-year-old Terrance Ross, parked in front of the duplex.
When Ross exited his vehicle, he was approached by a gunman who shot him in the hip area.
A neighbor called 911.

Ross was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died Friday morning.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
