NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two recent Tennessee State University graduates have developed a mobile phone app to help provide students with important information about the school.

TSU alumni's Patrick Calvin and Andrew Woodley developed the free download, Big Blue.

“With this app we solved the problem of community and lack of spirit on campus,” Calvin told Nashville's News 2.

The app serves as a directory, calendar, source of news and a course schedule.

“We wanted to have students be aware of what's going on campus, connect alumni and assist faculty and staff in communicating anything that goes on campus,” Woodley said, adding, “As we started doing research we figured out that more students and people in general had smart phones than had computers.”

The new app also allows students to register for classes, find out the latest news and check out social media networks and events.

The free download is available for iOS and Android devices.

In the two weeks since launching the app has been downloaded more than 2,000 times.

The developers said they are continuing to work on future updates for the app.
