NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A group of two dozen volunteers  from the state of Washington are spending the week in Nashville helping to rebuild homes damaged during the May 2010 floods.

Kevin LaRoche is among the volunteers. He told Nashville's News 2 the Christian relief organization, World Vision, decided to come to Music City since there are still plenty of repairs to be completed.

“They just wanted to come and serve people because when you serve it is a joy,” he said.

The organization has partnered with the local Southeast Nashville Recovery Group to help find local homeowners in need.

“There are plenty of homes out there still. People that can't live in there home or they are living in substandard conditions because they were flooded and have not gotten help” Melissa Thomas of Southeast Nashville Recovery said.

Thomas continued, “Out of state volunteers are our bread and butter because the rest of us have to go to work every day so the local people can't really do the work through the week.”

The World Vision volunteers are in Nashville until Saturday and will repair four homes.
