A Clarksville teenager pleaded guilty Thursday for conspiring to kill his father in 2009 and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Nineteen-year-old Alexander Hart admitted that he conspired with his older sister Rebecca and paid John Patrick George, then 15, $200 to kill a father he called an “abusive, alcoholic man.”
George allegedly shot 50-year-old Gilbert Hart in the back of the head with a gun the siblings provided inside the family's home in June 2009.
Both Alex and Rebecca Hart were charged with three counts of solicitation, first degree/felony murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Alex Hart pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder Thursday morning. The remaining counts were retired for one year, according to The Leaf Chronicle.
Hart was sentenced to 15 years in prison and will have to serve 30% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
In addition, Hart will have to testify against her sister, George and any others involved in the case if asked to by the state.
