WILLIAMSON CO., Tenn. – The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is conducting a sobriety roadside safety checkpoint this weekend.

The checkpoint is scheduled to begin Saturday at 11 p.m. and continue through 1 a.m. Sunday at Carothers Parkway near Cool Springs Boulevard.

According to the sheriff's office, more than 16,000 people are killed each year due to drinking and driving.

Authorities also plan to conduct additional checkpoints throughout the summer, including on June 25 at Highway 96 west from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
