CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville police have identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run accident early Friday morning on Dover Road as Eleisha Renee Perry.
Police spokesperson Jim Knoll said in a release sent to Nashville's News 2 they identified Perry with the help of a family member who contacted authorities after seeing reports on the news.
The 38-year-old Perry lived in Madison and had two children, ages 12 and 16, who live in McEwen, Tennessee.
On Saturday, police arrested 34-year-old Michael Lee Bell in connection to the deadly hit-and-run.
Bell, 34, of Dover, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death.
He told detectives he thought that he had struck a deer in the early morning hours Friday but thought that he may have been involved after hearing about the collision due to the vehicle description and time frame.
Additionally, parts recovered at the crash scene have been linked to Bell's 1993 Blue GMC Vandura van.
Police said Bell indicated that he had consumed some alcohol although investigators have not determined whether it was a factor in the collision.
Bell was booked into the Montgomery County jail on $50,000 bond.
