CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A sinkhole has forced officials to close a portion of Cumberland Drive near Riverside Drive in Clarksville.
The roadway near the intersection was found to be caved in around 4 a.m. Monday.
Clarksville police spokesperson Jim Knoll said traffic will not be able to travel onto Cumberland Drive from Riverside Drive or from State Route 48/13.
He said the sinkhole is about 15 feet by 60 feet. Below it, an eight inch water line has broken.
Crews were on the scene, pumping water from the hole. Officials said it will likely take most of the day to repair.
Knoll said an exact timeline was not known.
