Greene Co. man injured in tornado dies

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – A man hospitalized from injuries he received in a tornado in Greene County last Wednesday, April 27, has died.

Jeffrey McGill, 47, passed away Wednesday night at Laughlin Memorial Hospital in Greeneville.

WATE-TV in Knoxville reported McGill was injured when an EF-2 tornado ripped though the Camp Creek community. 

Green County Director of Emergency Medical Services Robert Sayne said he had since developed a blood clot.

McGill is the second fatality at 867 Ricker Road.  A woman staying with the family, Bessie Rice, was killed when the tornado hit.

McGill's wife, Susan, was also injured during the tornado.  She remains hospitalized at Laughlin Memorial, WATE-TV said.

McGill's death raises the number of fatalities to seven in Greene County and 37 statewide.
