NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An 18-year-old Nashville girl reported missing late last month has been found dead and police are investigating her death as a homicide.

Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron said detectives checking vacant houses in north Nashville early Sunday morning found the body of Kendrya Davis in a home located at 1104 Cass Street around 4:30 a.m.

Her body was found behind a bed sheet that was hanging to separate one of the rooms.

Aaron said trauma signs on Davis' body indicate she was a victim of homicide and they are pursuing leads in the case.

“At this point we believe she has been murdered, this is a homicide,” he said, adding, “The exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiners office autopsy [on Monday].”

Neighbors told police the north Nashville home which the body was discovered in had been vacant for months.

No arrests had been made as of early Sunday afternoon.

Davis was last seen last Monday evening, March 28, when she told family members she was going to the Music City Central bus station downtown to meet a friend.

Police said Davis' and her ex-boyfriend, Jose Hall, 19, had been arguing earlier in the day on Monday and that he remains a person of interest in the case.

Hall is custody on an unrelated failure to appear warrant in a trespassing incident and he remains in jail in Nashville in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

Aaron said the boyfriend has told officers he has no knowledge of Davis' disappearance or death.

Police are continuing their investigation into Davis' death. Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
