Walk 100 miles with mayor kicks off Sat.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Mayor Karl Dean will kick off the community wide 100 mile walking effort on Saturday morning.

The first of more than two dozen walks scheduled will begin at 11 a.m. at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, which is located off Jefferson Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues North.

Mayor Dean will lead the mile-and-a-half tour of the mall, walking twice around the mall from the amphitheater to Jefferson Street.

Participants can register online at walk100miles.com or Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Currently more than 1,700 Nashvillians have registered to participate in the 28 separate walking events throughout Metro's parks and greenways.
