NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro police arrested a Philadelphia Eagles football player in downtown Nashville Friday evening.
King Dunlap, 25, was charged with reckless driving and disorderly conduct after he drove his SUV on the sidewalk outside the Bridgestone Arena in the presence of hundreds of SEC Women's Basketball fans.
Dunlap, who is a Nashville native, was approached by officers after he parked his SUV near the front doors of the arena around 5:15 p.m.
The football player told police he was parked near the entrance of the arena to pick up his father who is confined to a wheelchair.
Officers told Nashville's News 2 Dunlap was arrested after he refused to move his vehicle, despite officers offering to assist his father to a nearby area.
Family members that were attending the SEC tournament took possession of the SUV and moved it back onto the street.
Authorities said the Nashville native did not resist arrest and was cooperative after he was placed in custody.
His bond is set for $1,000.
