LA VERGNE, Tenn. – The boyfriend of a La Vergne woman found dead in her home last week will be returned to Tennessee after he was arrested in Texas.

La Vergne Police Chief Ted Boyd said Maximalian Ocon, 55, waived extradition in Houston Monday morning.

The 55-year-old was arrested Friday morning after officers on Thursday afternoon discovered his girlfriend, 48-year-old Rafaela Ortiz, dead in her Lake Forest Estates home.

An autopsy conducted Friday morning showed that Ortiz died of blunt force trauma and strangulation.

Chief Boyd said Ocon was allegedly on his way out of the country when stopped by customs officers in Houston on Friday.

Two detectives and an officer with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office will be traveling to Houston to pick Ocon up and transport him back to Tennessee, Boyd said.
