NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Metro police officer accused of rape and sexual battery pleaded not guilty to the charges in a Davidson County courtroom Wednesday.

Jeffrey Poole, 39, did not appear in court, but his attorney, Mark Scruggs, entered a not guilty plea for all counts against his client.

Poole is out of jail on a $200,000 bond.

His next court case is scheduled for September 30.

Poole faces four counts of rape, four counts of official misconduct, two counts of sexual battery, one count of patronizing prostitution and one count of attempting to patronize prostitution.

An investigation into Poole began in late April after a woman accused him of fondling her and making verbal propositions.

More women, who accused Poole of improper sexual contact and rape, were interviewed later.

Poole was decommissioned in May and arrested in early August.
