Franklin police investigate rash of auto burglaries

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Detectives with the Franklin Police Department are investigating a rash of recent auto burglaries.

Over the last three weeks, police said 15 such burglaries have been reported to the department.

The burglaries have taken place in subdivisions and apartment complexes, as well as in parking lots of schools and businesses.

In each case, police said the suspect broke out a window or simply entered vehicles that were left unlocked.

A wide variety of items were stolen, including wallet and purses containing and credit cards, iPods, laptops and other electronic equipment.

Franklin police remind residents to lock their vehicles at all times and keep valuables such as GPS units and satellite radios out of sight to reduce the chance of being the next target.

Anyone with information on the break-ins is urged to call Franklin police at 615-794-2513.  Tipsters can also text the keyword 615FPD along with their message to 847411.
