MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Police in Murfreesboro are investigating after five students at Middle Tennessee State University were robbed at gunpoint.
The students were in their home in the 2300 block of Wenlon Drive when they were robbed on Monday.
According to a police report, when one of the students answered a knock at the door, a gunman forced his way inside.
Once inside, police said the gunman made the student lay face down on the floor and empty their pockets and their purses.
The thief got away with cash, cell phones, computers and several other items.
Neighbor Alyssa Costa said, “It's kind of scary because it was right here and everybody I know has kids, and I have kids and that's kind of scary in it's self.”
She told News she's already being more careful about answering her door.
“Especially if it's later, and I'm not expecting anyone, if somebody knocks, I don't even answer,” she said.
Police have yet to make an arrest.
The students are believed to have moved.
