NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A homicide investigation is underway after a man's body was found in a field in Hermitage.
Metro police said a woman looking for her lost dog discovered the body in a wooded area off Oak Grove Drive Monday afternoon.
An autopsy conducted Tuesday on the victim, identified as 23-year-old Ricardo Gabriel Torres, confirmed he had been shot to death.
Metro police said Torres' sister last heard from her brother on February 17 and reported him missing three days later.
Detectives said the investigation at this point shows that Torres got into an argument with persons at a party in the early morning hours of February 18.
They were working to identify and interview individuals who were at the party and may have witnessed the argument.
An ex-convict, Torres was sentenced to five years in September 2008 for attempted aggravated robbery.
His record also reflects convictions for felony reckless endangerment and aggravated burglary.
Anyone with information about the murder is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
