WAYNE CO., Tenn. – A Tennessee couple is behind bars in Wayne County, charged with the murder of their future daughter-in-law.

Steven Beersdorf, 46, and his wife, Silvia Beersdorf, 43 were booked into the Wayne County jail Thursday on charges of first degree murder for the slaying of their son's fiance, Rosemary Goggins, who went missing last week

While Goggin's body has not been found, her car was found burned out on a logging road in remote McNairy County last Friday.

Authorities said Goggins was living with the couple, along with her 11-month-old son, when she disappeared.

She was engaged to be married to their son, who was about to be deployed to Iraq.

Investigators said statements made by the family lead police to believe Goggins' body may be in the Tennessee River and on Friday, they brought cadaver dogs to the river to aid in the search.

“Historically, there had been a few problems, some domestic violence and we all feel it just escalated and this is what developed,” Wayne County Sheriff Ric Wilson told News 2.

The Beersdorf's, of Clifton, Tennessee, remain in jail without bond.

They are scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday.
