NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro police are investigating the murder of a 21-year-old man Tuesday in what they say is the first homicide case of the New Year.
Police say Jairo Zuniga was found shot to death Tuesday afternoon inside his Antioch apartment, located at 1211 Bell Road.
A pest control employee accessed the Beechwood Terrace apartment for routine spraying and found the body around 1:30 p.m.
There are no signs of forced entry at the apartment.
The exact time of the shooting is not known.
A friend of Zuniga told detectives he last saw the victim alive at the apartment Tuesday morning.
Detectives believe Zuniga was shot sometime after 9 a.m.
Police are interviewing other friends and associates of Zuniga as they work to identify the gunman.
The victim was last seen by his co-workers on Sunday, but was not scheduled to be back at work until Tuesday.
