NASHVILLE, Tenn. – One person is in custody following a shooting that left one person dead and a second person injured Wednesday night in Antioch.
Metro police arrested Derek White at his home on Luann Drive Thursday night for fatally shooting 22-year-old Ryan Wright and wounding Michael Schamberg, also 22.
Police said Schamberg, who is recovering from the shooting at Vanderbilt, positively identified White as a suspect.
The investigation shows that Schamberg and Wright picked up White and another man with him so that White could repay a debt to Schamberg.
While in Schamberg’s SUV, White and the accomplice pulled guns as part of a robbery.
When Schamberg stopped at Sleepy Hollow Drive and Rychen Drive, all four men got out.
Wright and Schamberg were then shot.
Police said the gunmen fled in a car that was following the SUV.
White, 20, is charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated robbery.
Investigators said he was free on bond for drug and weapons charges when he was arrested.
Police said the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
