One person was killed and four others injured in a three-car crash late Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 in Wilson County.
Investigators at the scene said a Jeep Cherokee traveling westbound crossed the center median and struck two vehicles traveling eastbound, a silver BMW and an SUV with an Illinois license plate.
The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants in the SUV were transported to University Medical Center in Lebanon with injuries.
The driver of the Jeep, Cody Ingram, of Lebanon, and a passenger were critically injured and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
The crash occurred at 10:30 a.m., at mile marker 232, and backed up traffic for most of the day.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating what caused Ingram to cross into the opposite lane of travel.
