Nashville’s News 2 is once again asking area grade, middle and high schools to participate in the annual Food 2 Families School Food Drive.
Food 2 Families is an opportunity for our local schools not only to help fight hunger in Middle Tennessee, but also an opportunity to show school children that they too can make a difference in service of their community.
Over the past 31 years, Food 2 Families has collected over 6 million food items for Second Harvest Food Bank to be distributed in our local community.
Kroger, Cornerstone Financial Credit Union, the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, and other local businesses support this campaign by providing cash prizes and incentives for participating schools.
HOW IT WORKS
Click the link below to enter your school. Choose a time period between August 25 and October 31 to implement your school’s food drive. Be creative — have classes challenge classes, schools challenge rival schools — whatever works for your school. Second Harvest representatives are happy to help you coordinate a successful campaign.
The first 30 elementary schools that sign up will receive $100 and be eligible for incentive gifts, awards and a special pep rally at the school!
All middle schools that participate will have a chance to win one of three $500 prizes.
Area high schools will compete for cash prizes of $1,200, $700 and $500.
But the real winners will be the Middle Tennesseans that benefit from the food that is donated.
