Case of missing 20-year-old classified as murder

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Missing person Sara Martinez is being classified Friday as a murder victim, and an arrest warrant has been issued against Jose Morano, the last person known to have been with Martinez.

Martinez, 20, was last seen March 9 at Club Guadalajara on Old Hickory Boulevard in south Nashville. She was reported missing by a friend on March 15.

The Toyota Corolla Morano was known to be driving was recovered abandoned March 24 on Allied Drive off Nolensville Pike.

There was a significant amount of blood in and around the front passenger seat of the Toyota. DNA testing confirmed the blood was from Sara Martinez.

Extensive efforts by Cold Case Detective Hugh Coleman, the police department’s missing person coordinator, to locate both Martinez and Morano over the past five months have been unsuccessful.

Morano has not been seen at his apartment complex since March 9. He never returned for his belongings. It is thought that Morano has fled the Nashville area and may have returned to Honduras.

Anyone knowing Jose Morano’s whereabouts or anyone having contact with him is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered.
