NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Questions remain about the untimely death of former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair and his girlfriend three days after the pair was found shot to death inside the downtown condominium McNair rented.
The 36-year-old McNair was reportedly on the couch when he was killed in the early morning hours Saturday.
The body of his girlfriend, 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, was discovered on the floor, in front of the couch.
The couch is located along the left wall in the living room, the first room you enter after passing through the front door.
According to Metro police, McNair’s friend and co-renter of the condo, Wayne Neeley, arrived at the condominium shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday but reportedly past through the living room and into the kitchen in the far right corner of the condo’s first floor.
Neeley telephoned McNair’s friend Robert Gaddy, who came to the scene.
It was Gaddy who called 911 at 1:35 p.m., 35 to 40 minutes later.
Initially reports on Saturday were that Neeley thought McNair and Kazemi were sleeping.
People who have entered the residence reported it was a somewhat bloody scene.
“You might see a loved one called first, before 911, but we are concerned about the time that elapsed between the discovery of the bodies and the time the 911 call was made,” Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron said.
He went on to say police have no evidence to suggest the bodies were moved adding, “I wouldn’t want to discuss whether anything else was moved at this point.”
McNair’s death was quickly ruled a homicide.
Police have yet to classify Kazemi’s death although the most likely scenario appears to be a murder-suicide.
