NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Death Row inmate Paul Dennis Reid has been deemed competent to make decisions about his case.
Criminal Court Judge Cheryl Blackburn made the decision after a series of competency hearings.
Reid is awaiting execution for killing seven workers at three fast-food restaurants in Nashville and Clarksville in 1997.
Judge Blackburn ruled there wasn’t enough evidence to show Reid was incompetent to make decisions about appeals.
The ruling means the state could schedule a new execution date.
