A freshman at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro died Monday evening while playing flag football, university officials confirmed Tuesday.

Police said the student, 18-year-old Noah Ewekunle, was found non-responsive on one of the school's intramural fields and transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center where he later died of what is believed to be natural causes.

Witnesses said the on-field collapse was not the result of any physical contact or impact during the flag-football game and no foul play is suspected.

An autopsy will be performed.

Ewekunle graduated from Hume Fogg Magnet School in Nashville earlier this year.
