The person shot and killed outside a south Nashville gas station Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 32-year-old Julio Matos.
Police said Matos was standing in the parking lot of the Shell station located at the corner of Haywood Lane and Apache Trail just off Interstate 24 when shots were fired from a passing car.
Matos died at the scene.
A second person, 29-year-old Bertin Maldonado-Barrera, was struck in the leg and transported to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His condition is not known.
Wednesday, police identified 21-year-old Joel Hernandez as the suspected gunman and an arrest warrant charging him with criminal homicide was issued.
Police said they have reason to believe Matos' murder was in retaliation for a shooting outside the Las Chivas Mexican Restaurant on Nolensville Pike early last month.
Hernandez's was last known to live on Olivia Drive in Antioch.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
