The Hendersonville man who went missing Saturday afternoon after getting knocked off his boat on Old Hickory Lake is presumed dead.
Ray Swatzell, 53, was ejected from the speed boat after it collided with another near the dam. He never resurfaced.
“Witnesses saw him go into the water,” said Doug Markham, public information officer for the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency. “We feel like he is missing and probably dead.”
No one else was injured in the accident.
Officials said Swatzell, who was alone in his boat, may have been okay if he were wearing a life vest.
His boat was not traveling at full speed, said officials.
Search efforts resumed Tuesday morning after they were called off Monday due to high winds.
