The mystery surrounding a child missing since April of 2006 has been solved.
Analyce Guerra's remains have now been identified.
Guerra's bones were discovered at Stones River Battlefield in Rutherford County.
Guerra's family and investigators were holding out hope that the toddler would be found alive.
“After two years, you eat, sleep, breathe the case,” said Smyrna Detective Jeff Peach. “I was hoping for a better outcome. I'm disappointed.”
Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold said, “It's a sad day for Smyrna. We've got a baby that has died most likely due to foul play, and I'm asking the community to pray for investigators and a quick and speedy response to this so we can get the people responsible in jail.”
Guerra was last seen on April 23, 2006. She lived in Smyrna.
Her mother said when she woke up in the middle of the night and her daughter was gone.
The remains indicate Guerra died right after she went missing.
“Solving this case would be the highlight of my career,” said Chief Arnold.
There is still a $26,000 reward for information about the case.
