Davis Nolan

In 2005, News 2 Storm Team Meteorologist Davis Nolan became one of the first in the nation to earn the new prestigious “Certified Broadcast Meteorologist” designation from the American Meteorological Society. Although Davis has held the AMS's Seal of Approval since 1979, this is an upgrade. Applicants had to have a degree in meteorology and take a rigorous exam. He also has held the National Weather Association's seal of approval since 2001. Davis takes great pride in the accuracy of his weather forecasts, especially during severe weather where he has tracked storms on air, over several hours, on many occasions.

Davis was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended Tulane University where he received a degree in Earth Sciences before attaining his Meteorology degree at Florida State University. He began his television career as the weekend weathercaster at WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida. He then served as the main evening weather anchor WTVT in Tampa, Florida.

Davis has a great love for music, fishing and sailing. He has become quite well known for his fishing hobby and can be found on the water every weekend (weather permitting). In 1994, Davis let viewers in on the act when he visited every major lake and river in Middle Tennessee showcasing his travels in a NEWS 2 report “Fish Tales.”

Musically, Davis has been seen playing guitar and singing with a band around Nashville. His lifetime musical hobby led to performances for the Italian Street Fair, Riverfest and the Food 2 Families Reverse Parade. These days, Davis plays mostly for his daughter.

Davis is also very active in the Middle Tennessee community. Since 1981, he's made more than 100 visit to area schools explaining weather to students.
